Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Panthers a B-.

Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Panthers to leave a draft. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

However the rest shakes out, Harris at that price is a win they earned. If Bernard pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick51 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
A reach on Germie Bernard in the 51st pick; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick83 Rnd3 Dani Dennis-Sutton
By-the-book stuff, Dani Dennis-Sutton at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
A tidy little value on Bishop Fitzgerald in slot 119, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick156 Rnd5 Nate Boerkircher
A clean, defensible pick in the 156th overall pick with a little surplus value in Nate Boerkircher. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at No. 157 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198 Rnd6 VJ Payne
Nothing to complain about; VJ Payne went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235 Rnd7 Zxavian Harris
They let Zxavian Harris come to them and pounced at pick No. 235. It adds depth where they could use a little.
