Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureF
The Vikings left with their quarterback, and a B- to match. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Wilson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Keegan pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 3rd overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They jumped the gun on T'Vondre Sweat, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
They paid up for Mike Sainristil at slot 67 when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick108
Rnd4
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the 108th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick129
Rnd4
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at Round 4, Pick 29 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick157
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
No edge and no loss on Dylan Laube in pick 157; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick167
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 167 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edefuan Ulofoshio. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick232
Rnd7
KT Leveston
A conviction pick on KT Leveston at Round 7, Pick 12 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick256
Rnd7
Brevyn Spann-Ford
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 256th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jalen Coker
A tidy little value on Jalen Coker in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
