The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 175 spots for John Emery Jr., and value like that does not grow back.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Winston Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
