Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B

TradesB
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Browns: B. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Browns did exactly that with Diego Pavia in slot 144. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Slaughter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate at pick 6 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick31
Rnd1
Gennings Dunker
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection.
Pick39
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane slid further than he should have, and No. 39 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick63
Rnd2
Caden Curry
Caden Curry in pick No. 63 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70
Rnd3
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at slot 70 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at the 107th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
The board fumbled Davison Igbinosun all the way to slot 139, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144
Rnd5
Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia at the 144th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick147
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
