Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Beck: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Carson Beck, the No. 111 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 4, Pick 32. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If Bisontis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 6 they get a downhill hitter at safety. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick28
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kenyon Sadiq in the 28th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick42
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
Trevor Goosby at slot 42 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams at Round 3, Pick 6 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick107
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Value said wait; Chase Bisontis in pick 107 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116
Rnd4
Blake Miller
They left a pile of value on the table to take Blake Miller this early at the 116th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick132
Rnd4
Carson Beck
The board fumbled Carson Beck all the way to No. 132, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139
Rnd5
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Pick153
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Demond Claiborne worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
A tidy little value on Eric McAlister in slot 206, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
No drama and no debate, Jerry Wilson went about where he belonged in the 248th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
