Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B

A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a B weekend for the Jets.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If Clark pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Stukes pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 16 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane slipping to the 33rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Good price on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jacob Rodriguez in Round 4, Pick 3. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick175 Rnd5 Treydan Stukes
Somehow Treydan Stukes was still sitting there in the 175th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick178 Rnd5 Bud Clark
A real head-scratcher, Bud Clark in slot 178 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192 Rnd6 Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in No. 192 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick206 Rnd6 Eric McAlister
Nice patience on Eric McAlister, who had no business lasting to pick No. 206. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick209 Rnd6 Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson in the 209th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick218 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
They talked themselves into Trey Zuhn III at Round 7, Pick 2, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick242 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
They paid sticker price for Desmond Reid in pick 242, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
