Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

ValueB-

FutureA
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Commanders to a D. The Commanders clearly saw something nobody else did in Keaten Wade, taking him 70 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Golday. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
No drama and no debate, Sonny Styles went about where he belonged in slot 38. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick44
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
A straight-up fair deal on Dillon Thieneman at No. 44, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld in pick 75 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Connor Lew at pick No. 77. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 90th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jake Golday
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Jake Golday worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick103
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at slot 103 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at pick 146 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A reasonable price with a little left over, Drew Allar in pick No. 147. The roster fit checks out.
Pick177
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in No. 177 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick208
Rnd6
Da'Shawn Womack
Da'Shawn Womack at Round 6, Pick 28 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Keaten Wade
Value said wait; Keaten Wade in the 223rd pick says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
