The Patriots did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Enrique Cruz Jr. in Round 7, Pick 37. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The Caldwell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
