zfootball117917 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chiefs a B-. The Chiefs' one glaring miss is offensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They will need Banks to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In slot 9 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick29
Rnd1
Caleb Banks
In the 29th pick they get a disruptive interior force, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Romello Height
They paid sticker price for Romello Height in No. 40, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74
Rnd3
Max Klare
Max Klare in pick No. 74 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
