The tape said wait; the Bears did not. Dasan McCullough went at the 241st overall pick, a good 82 picks before the board was ready. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Lane to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
