The Steelers robbed the room for Hunter. Final grade: B.

Somebody in No. 76 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while Lee Hunter, the No. 47 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Allar lower, and that gap is the story. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Taking Jacob Rodriguez in the 99th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.

A straight-up fair deal on Bud Clark at slot 121, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Drew Allar in No. 135 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

The board had cheaper options than Bryce Boettcher at pick 159, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
