Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Broncos kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Chris McClellan at Round 4, Pick 8. The Broncos jumped the board by 24 and dared it to prove them wrong. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The York value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In pick No. 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value.
Pick62 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
By-the-book stuff, Eli Stowers at No. 62 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94 Rnd3 Taurean York
Steal is underselling it; Taurean York at the 94th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick108 Rnd4 Chris McClellan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chris McClellan this early at the 108th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 30 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168 Rnd5 Treydan Stukes
A quiet steal in slot 168: Treydan Stukes for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick246 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
Nothing to complain about; Shamar Easter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick251 Rnd7 Kendrick Law
They jumped the gun on Kendrick Law, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall in pick 255 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
