Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesD- FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Dolphins and McNeil-Warren: B-.

The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. McNeil-Warren falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. With quarterback and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

The Foster pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick 11 they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
They read the board right and A.J. Haulcy was the payoff at the 62nd overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and edge rusher to take Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 78 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Value with a capital V on Jacob Rodriguez in slot 90, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick91 Rnd3 Mike Washington Jr.
The board had Mike Washington Jr. higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Devin Moore
Fair-plus on Devin Moore, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick111 Rnd4 Sam Roush
Taking Sam Roush in pick No. 111 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kaleb Proctor
No drama and no debate, Kaleb Proctor went about where he belonged in pick 130. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147 Rnd5 Dametrious Crownover
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dametrious Crownover in No. 147. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Isaiah World
Isaiah World at slot 151 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Jeff Caldwell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick226 Rnd7 Owen Heinecke
Owen Heinecke at the 226th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick227 Rnd7 Eli Heidenreich
A straight-up fair deal on Eli Heidenreich at the 227th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick257 Rnd7 Logan Taylor
No edge and no loss on Logan Taylor in slot 257; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
