The Broncos checked most of the boxes and earned a B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Broncos took Mike Washington Jr. a full 28 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Sadiq at that price is a win they earned.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kenyon Sadiq in pick 30. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick31
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick108
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. in the 108th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick130
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
No edge and no loss on CJ Daniels in pick No. 130; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
