Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bengals and Scott: B-.

Somebody in slot 99 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Keionte Scott, the No. 66 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Barham lower, and that gap is the story. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In pick No. 26 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A safety of that caliber at pick 72 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
Somehow D'Angelo Ponds was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick99 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in the 99th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
The board had cheaper options than Jaishawn Barham at the 107th pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Joe Royer
They read the board right and Joe Royer was the payoff at slot 110. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick126 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at No. 126 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ted Hurst in Round 5, Pick 37, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick187 Rnd6 Gracen Halton
They paid sticker price for Gracen Halton in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Bud Clark
No edge and no loss on Bud Clark in the 197th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick226 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Zuhn III at the 226th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
