Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B

Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Scott: B.

The Saints spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Keionte Scott, the No. 68 name on the board, in pick No. 136. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. McAlister has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In slot 8 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick42 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A clean, defensible pick in the 42nd pick with a little surplus value in Dillon Thieneman. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick73 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Fields at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132 Rnd4 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No edge and no loss on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 132; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick136 Rnd4 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in pick 136 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148 Rnd5 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at Round 5, Pick 10 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick170 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at pick No. 170 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick188 Rnd6 Demond Claiborne
Circle this one: Demond Claiborne at the 188th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
