FutureB-
The jury is out on the Jaguars. For now, C+. Nobody had Hank Brown this high, and it is not close. The Jaguars reached 353 spots to get him at the 81st overall pick. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
That Allen pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Hit on Hank Brown and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick81
Rnd3
Hank Brown
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hank Brown in the Round 3 slot, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick89
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at the 89th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
Somehow A.J. Haulcy was still sitting there in pick 91, and they pounced on premier safety value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick100
Rnd3
Cashius Howell
You do not let an edge rusher like Cashius Howell reach slot 100 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
They paid sticker price for Jude Bowry in Round 4, Pick 28, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
They jumped the gun on Xavier Nwankpa, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick167
Rnd5
Antonio Kite
The board had cheaper options than Antonio Kite at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick233
Rnd7
Solomon Tuliaupupu
A real head-scratcher, Solomon Tuliaupupu in the 233rd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick240
Rnd7
Kaytron Allen
The board fumbled Kaytron Allen all the way to the 240th pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
