Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB-
The Chargers bet the future on Moore. The board says B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chargers reached some 391 spots for Malachi Singleton, and value like that does not grow back. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
So much rides on Dante Moore that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Moore.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Dante Moore
Dante Moore in slot 22 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick56
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
A slide stopped in pick No. 56, with Elijah Sarratt worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87
Rnd3
Malachi Singleton
A big swing on Malachi Singleton at Round 3, Pick 23, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling slid further than he should have, and pick 122 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204
Rnd6
DeVonta Smith
A wild overpay on DeVonta Smith in the 204th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
