Larceny in the Round 4 slot lands the Falcons a C, Branch and all.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Falcons did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

The Branch pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick56 Rnd2 Antonio Williams
A reach for Antonio Williams in slot 56; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
They liked Domonique Orange enough to skip the value, taking him in the 74th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Adon Shuler
Adon Shuler in Round 3, Pick 32 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in No. 109 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick133 Rnd4 Justin Joly
Justin Joly in the 133rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick140 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 140 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick170 Rnd5 Drew Allar
They read the board right and Drew Allar was the payoff at slot 170. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172 Rnd5 Terion Stewart
No drama and no debate, Terion Stewart went about where he belonged in the 172nd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189 Rnd6 Josh Moten
They paid a round early for Josh Moten in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick224 Rnd7 James Smith
A wild overpay on James Smith in No. 224, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
