Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall

FutureB-
The Falcons bled value on every deal, hence the D-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Falcons did exactly that with Aamil Wagner in No. 130. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They banked enough surplus on Shuler to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick57
Rnd2
Antonio Williams
They paid a round early for Antonio Williams in the 57th pick, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
A conviction pick on Domonique Orange at the 73rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in Round 3, Pick 30 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick110
Rnd4
Adon Shuler
A tidy bit of business in pick 110, where Adon Shuler graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick130
Rnd4
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134
Rnd4
Drew Allar
A big swing on Drew Allar at No. 134, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143
Rnd5
Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers in pick No. 143 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick197
Rnd6
Josh Moten
By-the-book stuff, Josh Moten at the 197th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
