You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Raiders did exactly that with Eric Gentry in pick No. 219. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever Fernando Mendoza becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reese.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
