Allen should have been long gone. The Eagles pounced, and earned a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. CJ Allen tumbling to the Eagles in No. 68 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The cost of the Casey reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
They robbed the room for Kenyon Sadiq here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 CJ Allen
You do not let a linebacker like CJ Allen reach the 68th overall pick and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick95 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
They liked D'Angelo Ponds enough to skip the value, taking him in the 95th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99 Rnd3 Tacario Davis
They reached into another round for Tacario Davis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131 Rnd4 Kage Casey
Value said wait; Kage Casey in pick No. 131 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick136 Rnd4 Evan Stewart
No edge and no loss on Evan Stewart in No. 136; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178 Rnd6 Noah Fifita
Noah Fifita at pick 178 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
