Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Eagles worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took Patrick Payton a full 72 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Chris Johnson
No drama and no debate, Chris Johnson went about where he belonged in the 34th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick36 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
They paid a round early for Max Iheanachor in No. 36, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick39 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They did well to land Dillon Thieneman in slot 39, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick65 Rnd3 Max Klare
They went early on Max Klare in pick 65, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick106 Rnd4 Deion Burks
Deion Burks at the 106th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
They jumped the gun on Kaytron Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jaeden Roberts
By-the-book stuff, Jaeden Roberts at No. 137 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick151 Rnd5 Taylen Green
A real head-scratcher, Taylen Green in slot 151 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick179 Rnd5 Patrick Payton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Patrick Payton in Round 5, Pick 41, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick201 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick 201 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
