Larceny in the 85th overall pick lands the Steelers a B, Trotter and all.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Josiah Trotter, the No. 56 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 85th pick.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Stephens has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
A tidy bit of business in slot 21, where Carnell Tate graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick53 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 53rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Omar Cooper Jr. reach No. 76 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick85 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
Josiah Trotter at Round 3, Pick 21 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Somehow Domonique Orange was still sitting there in pick No. 99, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick121 Rnd4 Bud Clark
Bud Clark in the 121st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
The board had cheaper options than Beau Stephens at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
