GMT224 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB

FutureB-
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Trice at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Bralen Trice
The board had Bralen Trice higher than the Round 3 slot, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
James Williams
A straight-up fair deal on James Williams at No. 122, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
