Draft Grade — Colts
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Colts a B-. Priorities are a choice, and the Colts made a strange one, taking Darien Porter at cornerback in No. 80 with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots crying out for the pick instead. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Reaching for Fannin Jr. left real value on the table behind him.
On the needs board they went 1 of 8, with tight end the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In pick No. 14 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick45
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
They jumped the gun on Harold Fannin Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80
Rnd3
Darien Porter
A want over a need in the 80th pick: Darien Porter adds a cornerback while wide receiver, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
