The Lions looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took George Gumbs Jr. at No. 213 regardless, 55 picks early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Golday steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Lions indulged a want in Capehart while a need in safety, quarterback and other spots stayed open.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
