FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B. There is reaching, and then there is Trey Zuhn III at the Round 6 slot. The Lions jumped the board by 54 and dared it to prove them wrong. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
However the rest shakes out, Bentley at that price is a win they earned. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 18th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
A tidy little value on Jake Slaughter in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82
Rnd3
Kamari Ramsey
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kamari Ramsey in slot 82. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
No edge and no loss on Tacario Davis in No. 94; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 118th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick130
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun is a better player than Round 4, Pick 30 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick155
Rnd5
Nate Boerkircher
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nate Boerkircher in slot 155. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Rayshaun Benny
They paid up for Rayshaun Benny at pick No. 186 when waiting would have done the job. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick194
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
A wild overpay on Trey Zuhn III in the 194th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick203
Rnd6
Taylen Green
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 24, with Taylen Green worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dallen Bentley
Dallen Bentley in No. 212 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick222
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
