Draft Grade — Titans
Overall

TradesA+
FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Titans a B+. The Titans ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They will need Baynes to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Styles pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
David Bailey
In the 12th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick20
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 20th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick66
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at Round 3, Pick 2 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
They took D'Angelo Ponds at par in pick 101, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick140
Rnd5
Kobe Baynes
Kobe Baynes at No. 140 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
By-the-book stuff, Davison Igbinosun at slot 142 squarely in line with his ranking. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
A tidy little value on Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick No. 150, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick177
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
They did well to land Pat Coogan in No. 177, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick182
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Nothing to complain about; Bud Clark went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick238
Rnd7
Haynes King
Haynes King in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
