Draft Grade — Dolphins

FutureB+
Nobody dealt better than the Dolphins this weekend: B+. The war room fell hard for Derrick Moore, and it showed at pick No. 111: 44 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 13 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
A conviction pick on Trevor Goosby at the 43rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
Quietly one of the better values of the day, A'Mauri Washington at Round 3, Pick 11. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87
Rnd3
John Mateer
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and John Mateer at the 87th pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Anto Saka
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Anto Saka. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111
Rnd4
Derrick Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Derrick Moore this early at the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jakobe Thomas
A slide stopped in pick 158, with Jakobe Thomas worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Kage Casey at No. 167 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick227
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in Round 7, Pick 11 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick236
Rnd7
Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena in pick No. 236 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
