Nobody had Anthony Lucas this high, and it is not close. The Jaguars reached 42 spots to get him at pick No. 57. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They will answer for taking edge rusher early while linebacker, quarterback and other spots went begging. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.

The Abney II pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
