Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

Good, not great, for the Buccaneers: B. Nobody else had Princewill Umanmielen anywhere near No. 192. The Buccaneers did, by 56 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Spending an early pick on linebacker with interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Taaffe pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A curious use of Round 2, Pick 12. Interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Sonny Styles did not.
Pick61
Rnd2
Deontae Lawson
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Deontae Lawson in the 61st pick leaves interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick75
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at pick No. 75 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick93
Rnd3
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
They reached into another round for Kenyatta Jackson Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick124
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
They took Michael Trigg at par in pick 124, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu in slot 146 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick151
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 151. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192
Rnd6
Princewill Umanmielen
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Princewill Umanmielen. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick229
Rnd7
Smith Snowden
Smith Snowden at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
