FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Giants: B. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Giants left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
Reaching for Graves left real value on the table behind him. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 5 they get a downhill hitter at safety. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A straight-up fair deal on Sonny Styles at pick 37, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at slot 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
They jumped the gun on Aaron Graves, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185
Rnd6
Bud Clark
No drama and no debate, Bud Clark went about where he belonged in the 185th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick192
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
A reach for Bryce Foster in No. 192; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J. Michael Sturdivant. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jack Velling
Jack Velling at Round 7, Pick 12 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
