Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueA NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA-
Lane should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a A-.

The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ja'Kobi Lane, the No. 90 name on the board, in No. 247.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Jalen Rivers deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Anthony Hill Jr. and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick41 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A tidy little value on Anthony Hill Jr. in slot 41, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick63 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Eli Stowers worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
Taking A.J. Haulcy in the 95th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100 Rnd3 Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse at pick 100 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick131 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
They will replay Chase Bisontis at Round 4, Pick 31 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick156 Rnd5 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in the 156th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick189 Rnd6 Germie Bernard
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Germie Bernard in No. 189, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick247 Rnd7 Ja'Kobi Lane
Somehow Ja'Kobi Lane was still sitting there in pick No. 247, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
