Of all the ways to open, the Bengals chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 39 on Caleb Banks with interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still wide open. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Easter proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

They banked enough surplus on Haulcy to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
