Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Vikings to a C+. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Vikings indulged a want in Igbinosun while a need in edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots stayed open.
The Love steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Ricky Pearsall pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren slid further than he should have, and slot 49 is lovely value for the safety. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds is a better player than the 58th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
No drama and no debate, Jacob Rodriguez went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 27. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick126
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
Fair-plus on Michael Trigg, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in pick No. 128 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at No. 133 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Davison Igbinosun in pick 138 leaves edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots for later.
Pick240
Rnd7
Haynes King
They paid up for Haynes King at slot 240 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
