Draft Grade — Colts
Overall

FutureB-
The Colts checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still glaring, the Colts used the Round 4 slot on Tacario Davis, a cornerback they were not exactly short of. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Trotter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick47
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
Good price on Brandon Cisse in slot 47, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick78
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
Nice patience on Josiah Trotter, who had no business lasting to slot 78. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick113
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Tacario Davis in pick No. 113 leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick154
Rnd5
J'Mari Taylor
Value with a capital V on J'Mari Taylor in the 154th pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick216
Rnd6
J. Michael Sturdivant
They paid sticker price for J. Michael Sturdivant in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jack Velling
A tidy little value on Jack Velling in No. 230, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick253
Rnd7
Micah Morris
Micah Morris in the 253rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
