Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Colts won the night they stopped Loveland from sliding. Grade: B-.

The Colts' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it.

On value alone, Loveland makes the weekend a net positive. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The back end got a real overhaul.

The dealing was even money, start to finish.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In No. 14 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at Round 2, Pick 11 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick80 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
They took Barrett Carter at par in slot 80, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick117 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Miles Frazier. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick151 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore slid further than he should have, and pick 151 is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick232 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Nice patience on Robert Longerbeam, who had no business lasting to the 232nd pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
