The Lions let Kilgore fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Lions were there to profit. Jalon Kilgore, the No. 104 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 181. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Jedrick Wills Jr. gives the group a proven body among the projects. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
