The Cardinals did not so much draft DeMonte Capehart as overpay for him, 38 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Cardinals clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
