The Falcons let Bernard fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Falcons walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Every board in the league had Foster lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in No. 42 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in pick 76 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at pick No. 119 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick158
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in Round 5, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193
Rnd6
Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite in the 193rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick227
Rnd7
Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in slot 227 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
