Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D
ValueF NeedB TradesD FutureD+
The Bills bet the future on Daniels. The board says D.

The Bills did not so much draft Jalon Daniels as overpay for him, 208 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

So much rides on Jalon Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake. However the rest shakes out, Casey at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jalon Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Reggie Virgil
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Reggie Virgil. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick126 Rnd4 Red Murdock
They left a pile of value on the table to take Red Murdock this early at the 126th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick135 Rnd4 Kaleb Proctor
A wild overpay on Kaleb Proctor in No. 135, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick161 Rnd5 Louis Moore
Louis Moore at Round 5, Pick 21 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick165 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Circle this one: Kage Casey at slot 165 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216 Rnd6 Kaden Wetjen
By-the-book stuff, Kaden Wetjen at slot 216 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Wesley Williams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Wesley Williams in the 220th overall pick, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Brandon Cleveland
Brandon Cleveland at the 224th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick246 Rnd7 Max Bredeson
Max Bredeson at No. 246 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick251 Rnd7 Marcus Allen
They reached a country mile for Marcus Allen at Round 7, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick256 Rnd7 Wade Woodaz
Wade Woodaz at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257 Rnd7 RJ Maryland
A big swing on RJ Maryland at pick No. 257, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
