Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-.

The Buccaneers torched the value chart for Jalen Thompson, taking him 70 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spending an early pick on linebacker with offensive lineman, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Haulcy steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 24th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick47 Rnd2 CJ Allen
They zigged when the board said zag, taking CJ Allen at linebacker with offensive lineman, tight end and other spots open.
Pick56 Rnd2 Zion Young
A wild overpay on Zion Young in the 56th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick78 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy slipping to No. 78 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick116 Rnd4 Deion Burks
Fair-plus on Deion Burks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick154 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in pick No. 154 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite in the 195th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jalen Thompson
Jalen Thompson at slot 232 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
