Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Buccaneers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Buccaneers reached some 53 spots for Jacob Rodriguez, and value like that does not grow back. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jagusah. They will answer for taking linebacker early while tight end, quarterback and other spots went begging.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Joshua Josephs
Joshua Josephs at slot 30 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick46 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in pick No. 46 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick77 Rnd3 Austin Barber
They went early on Austin Barber in the 77th pick, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Jacob Rodriguez in the 116th overall pick leaves tight end, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick125 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A tidy bit of business in No. 125, where Emmanuel McNeil-Warren graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick153 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
Circle this one: Charles Jagusah at Round 5, Pick 15 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Josh Moten
A reach on Josh Moten in slot 195; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229 Rnd7 Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs at pick No. 229 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
