Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Jaguars this weekend: B.

The Jaguars treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 239th pick on Stephen Dix Jr. a full 134 spots early. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

That Greathouse pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick61 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
Nothing to complain about; Elijah Sarratt went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Whit Weeks
They did well to land Whit Weeks in pick No. 74, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
A big swing on Chase Bisontis at pick 90, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91 Rnd3 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart at Round 3, Pick 27 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick93 Rnd3 Carson Beck
Carson Beck at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick100 Rnd3 Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers at No. 100 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick117 Rnd4 Austin Romaine
They took Austin Romaine at par in pick 117, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jaden Greathouse
They will replay Jaden Greathouse at Round 5, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick156 Rnd5 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at No. 156 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick165 Rnd5 Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner in slot 165 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195 Rnd6 Khalil Barnes
Khalil Barnes is a better player than the 195th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198 Rnd6 Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona in the 198th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick217 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
By-the-book stuff, Riley Mahlman at pick No. 217 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick218 Rnd7 Sawyer Robertson
They barely believed it either: Sawyer Robertson still on the board at pick 218. The roster fit checks out.
Pick222 Rnd7 TJ Metcalf
The board had cheaper options than TJ Metcalf at Round 7, Pick 6, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
Jason Henderson in No. 223 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230 Rnd7 Reid Carrico
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Reid Carrico well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Stephen Dix Jr.
Stephen Dix Jr. in the 239th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
They reached a country mile for Keaten Wade at pick No. 245, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
