Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Jaguars won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

The Jason Henderson selection is the head-turner. The Jaguars reached 128 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

Allar falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The veteran additions, Luke Musgrave chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick64 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at Round 2, Pick 32 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
They paid a round early for Caleb Tiernan in pick 82, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks at No. 87 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick100 Rnd3 Julian Neal
A tidy bit of business in slot 100, where Julian Neal graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing D'Angelo Ponds in the 122nd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
They took Bryce Lance at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126 Rnd4 Carson Beck
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Carson Beck at the 126th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick132 Rnd4 Austin Romaine
A conviction pick on Austin Romaine at the 132nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick164 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They went early on Aaron Graves in pick No. 164, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick172 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher in pick 172 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick194 Rnd6 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick201 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart at Round 6, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick229 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid at slot 229 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jamal Haynes
Jamal Haynes in No. 233 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235 Rnd7 Noah Fifita
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Noah Fifita at No. 235 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
No edge and no loss on Nolan Rucci in the 239th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jack Velling
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Velling well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick242 Rnd7 Xavian Sorey Jr.
Value said wait; Xavian Sorey Jr. in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick246 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
They talked themselves into Jason Henderson at Round 7, Pick 31, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
They reached a country mile for Keaten Wade at the 247th pick, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick255 Rnd7 Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu at pick 255 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
