Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
C
ValueB-

FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Browns took Gracen Halton at the Round 4 slot, roughly 32 spots before his name belonged.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Green falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
So much rides on Jordyn Tyson that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In pick 12 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28
Rnd1
Emmanuel Pregnon
In the 28th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson at pick No. 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70
Rnd3
Blake Miller
The board had Blake Miller higher than No. 70, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94
Rnd3
Taurean York
They paid a round early for Taurean York in Round 3, Pick 30, more than the board wanted. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick106
Rnd4
Emmett Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmett Johnson at the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107
Rnd4
Gracen Halton
A big swing on Gracen Halton at the 107th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
Nice patience on Bryce Lance, who had no business lasting to No. 130. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Hezekiah Masses
Hezekiah Masses at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147
Rnd5
Nate Boerkircher
Nate Boerkircher at slot 147 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Circle this one: Taylen Green at Round 6, Pick 25 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick221
Rnd7
Keyshaun Elliott
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keyshaun Elliott in pick 221. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick248
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia in pick No. 248 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
