Draft Grade — Browns

The Browns turned the phones into found money: B.

Whoever sat across the table from the Browns should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 6th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
Fair-plus on Brandon Cisse, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Slaughter at Round 3, Pick 6 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107 Rnd4 Markel Bell
Markel Bell at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
No edge and no loss on Beau Stephens in the 139th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
By-the-book stuff, DeMonte Capehart at slot 144 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick147 Rnd5 Keagen Trost
Keagen Trost at No. 147 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Sam Roush
Sam Roush in pick 204 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalon Daniels at Round 7, Pick 32. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
