FutureB+
The Browns let Klare fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Max Klare, the No. 75 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 7. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Adding Terence Steele by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In pick 12 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In No. 24 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick39
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 7 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in the 70th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
Max Klare
Max Klare in the 107th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
They paid a round early for J.C. Davis in slot 112, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Pick132
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Parker Brailsford graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139
Rnd5
Billy Schrauth
Billy Schrauth at pick No. 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
They took DeMonte Capehart at par in pick 144, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147
Rnd5
Drew Allar
No drama and no debate, Drew Allar went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 9. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Good price on Aamil Wagner in the 170th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248
Rnd7
DJ Harvey
They barely believed it either: DJ Harvey still on the board at slot 248. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
