The Lions won the night they stopped Montgomery from sliding. Grade: B.

Somebody in the 203rd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Tyren Montgomery, the No. 173 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Gusta to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
